Greg Smith has been the communications director for the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) since June of 2023. In this role, Greg serves as the spokesperson for ASMI, and along with his Communications program team, leads ASMI’s engagement with the Alaska seafood industry, the fleet and Alaska government leadership. The communications program team also runs key ASMI services used by the industry, like the ASMI website, photo and video asset library, and the printed material portal. Greg manages ASMI’s national consumer public relations contract, as well. Greg crewed for three seasons on Southeast gillnetters, where he direct marketed sockeye, as well as worked a short opener in the Southeast troll fishery. He is honored to serve as Deputy Mayor on the City and Borough of Juneau Assembly.
