Tom Testaverde is a fourth-generation commercial fisherman based in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Tom is the owner, shore captain, and former operator of the F/V Midnight Sun, an 87’ otter trawl vessel fishing now operated by his son Tommy. The family’s primary target species are whiting and groundfish. In addition to experimenting with numerous efficiency innovations on his own vessel, Tom is serving on the Advisory Committee for the Energy Efficient Fisheries project, a recently launched $2 million project initiated by the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Development Project and Fishery Friendly Climate Action to chart a course towards lower fuel costs, reduced emissions, and higher efficiency for the good of all Massachusetts fishing and seafood businesses.
