Mike grew up crewing on, and eventually operating, charter boats in Southern California. At 23, Mike started law school; and continued to fish when time allowed. After years working in the technology sector, as inhouse counsel – and one specific merger went went awry, Mike returned to his fishing roots. While participating in various commercial fisheries off the Southern California coast, Mike felt the fishing industry was under-represented in various forums (legislative and regulatory bodies in particular). That resulted in the formation of a boutique consulting firm which focused on the needs of the fishing industry. In 2020 Mike was approached to assume the role of Executive Director of the Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen's Associations. Throughout his career in fisheries related work, Mike has had an opportunity to work with most (if not all) fisheries which operate off the California coast.
