On March 29, the Biden Administration announced an ambitious goal to deploy 30 Gigawatts of Offshore Wind (OSW) by 2030. Since then, additional clarity has been provided about the geographic scope and scale necessary to accomplish this goal. This presentation will provide updates on the status of OSW, based on publicly available information, for the east coast, west coast, gulf and Hawaii. It will also describe primary differences between fixed and floating wind farms, and how these may have different impacts to fishing operations. Panelists will identify and discuss the current state of the science highlighting areas where additional studies are planned, identified, or necessary. Time permitting, panelists will take questions from attendees and seek their thoughts on what additional studies are necessary.
