Julie Decker has worked in the Alaska seafood industry since 1994. Currently, Decker is the Executive Director of the Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation (AFDF). Past jobs included, Executive Director of the Southeast Alaska Regional Dive Fisheries Association (SARDFA), executive management at a local seafood processor, Coordinator for the National Seafood Marketing Coalition via United Fishermen of Alaska (UFA), commercial diver and fisherman. Her family owns and operates a small commercial fishing vessel out of Wrangell, Alaska, and her children grew up fishing during the summers in Alaska.
Decker has a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Natural Resource Management from University of Alaska Southeast. Decker was presented the Ernest Gruening Award for “outstanding graduate student in her field” in 2013. Decker has also served on various boards and committees, including the Southeast Conference, the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI), and the Assembly of the City and Borough of Wrangell.
