Julie Decker has worked in the Alaska seafood industry since 1994. Currently, Julie is the Executive Director of the Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation (AFDF). In the past, she worked for the Southeast Alaska Regional Dive Fisheries Association (SARDFA) and the United Fishermen of Alaska (UFA). In the summers, she gillnets for salmon with her family out of Wrangell, Alaska.
Julie has a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a Masters degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Natural Resource Management from University of Alaska Southeast. Julie was presented the Ernest Gruening Award for “outstanding graduate student in her field” in 2013. Julie has also served on various boards and committees working toward economic development, including the Southeast Conference, the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI), the Economic Development Committee and the Assembly of the City and Borough of Wrangell.
