Biography

Bobbi Hudson is the Executive Director of the Pacific Shellfish Institute. The Pacific Shellfish Institute (PSI) is a private nonprofit organization formed in 1995 to develop and disseminate scientific and technical information of value to the general public, shellfish farmers, and public officials in connection with shellfish-related environmental, health and safety issues. PSI maintains an office and laboratory in Olympia, Washington, USA, and retains a diverse portfolio of biological, oceanographic and social science research projects that further the mission of: “Fostering sustainable shellfish resources and a healthy marine environment through research and education.” Bobbi provides overall management of PSI, including research design and execution, technical writing and public outreach. Her primary research interests include valuation of ecosystem services, economic impacts of shellfish cultivation, social and ecological carrying capacity, and development of emerging aquaculture species. Ms. Hudson also specializes in evaluation of sustainable bivalve aquaculture production in nearshore environments. She holds a Masters of Environmental Science from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, USA.
